I can see your eyes glaze over. I’m an accountant, so I have to understand this stuff. You’re a business manager, you shouldn’t have to. Your accountant / bookkeeper should be giving you management information...the data you need to make good business decisions.

Actually, I quite like the last statement...Cash Flows. In almost any business, cash is king. You need to know where it comes from, where it went and how to get more of it.

The problem with most “official” statements is that they’re too high level... and most importantly, they are always out of date. It’s like driving a car using the rear view mirror. They tell you where you’ve been. I like to know where I’m going and how far I’ve got to go
